Magpie

Here's something kinda different. A digital painting I did for a class. It's a magpie.. um that's it really >.>; I attempted realism but then got bored, tired and gave up lol. Heavy use of references though sadly I don't know where they came from.. it was an old file I found on my comp from ages ago. Done in photoshop.

I am very familiar with magpies as they were all over SW Montana where I used to live - this is a really beautiful portrayal! Though the environment looks more midwestern. Do magpies live there too? I think if I were to paint a magpie, I'd include an evil glint in its eye. They are obnoxious bully birds...but fun to watch. They're really smart (as are most corvids) and sometimes if you squawk at them, they'll talk back.
